The Reception to celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan 13 February 2025

On Thursday 13 February, Ambassador Sugiyama hosted a reception to celebrate the 65th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, with H.E. Ms. Kristina Sigurdsdottir Hansen, State Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, as Chief Guest. The event was attended by Norwegian and Japanese friends involved in political, economic, academic and cultural areas, as well as Ambassadors of the diplomatic corps.
The reception started with the Japanese and Norwegian national anthems performed by the choir group in Oslo “Sakura Choir”, followed by the opening remarks by Ambassador Sugiyama and State Secretary Ms. Hansen. Ambassador Sugiyama said in his remarks that Japan and Norway made good progress in consolidating the Strategic Partnership in the areas of political and security dialogues and cooperation, economic relations including green transition, and culture, among others. Ambassador Sugiyama also expressed his wish to further promote friendship of our two countries in 2025, when we celebrate 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Norway and Norway will participation in the Osaka Kansai Expo.
