On Tuesday 10 December, Ambassador Sugiyama hosted a reception to celebrate the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organization (Nihon Hidankyo) for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize 2024.
 
The reception was attended by the delegation from Nihon Hidankyo, Norwegian dignitaries as well as ambassadors and Japanese nationals in Norway.
 
Ambassador Sugiyama gave his opening remarks and then read the statement from the Foreign Minister of Japan, IWAYA Takeshi to the members of Nihon Hidankyo on his behalf.
 
In response, Jiro Hamazumi Deputy Secretary-General of the Hidankyo delivered a valedictory speech, and at the end, Ambassador Sugiyama led a toast to celebrate Hidankyo for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize 2024.
