Application deadline 5 February 2026: The Embassy of Japan in Norway is seeking a security clerk

Main Duties:
- Gathering and reporting information on public safety, crime-related news, and domestic policy.
- Translating or summarizing information sources from Norwegian to English.
- Analyzing crime statistics data and creating graphs and tables.
- Supporting communication and network building between the Embassy and relevant agencies, including public safety organizations and private companies.
- Managing the duties of Embassy security guards.
- Supporting security for receptions and events held by the Embassy.
- Other duties as designated by the Embassy.
 
Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above, or equivalent education degree.
- Fluent in Norwegian and English (additionally Japanese) (Both speaking and writing).
- Logical writing, ability to make summary of news, reports and seminars both in written format and oral explanation.
- Communication skill with Norwegian, Japanese and other related business parties and public authorities.
- Basic knowledge on MS-Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Information literacy – ability to locate and evaluate the needed information, being doubtful to fake news.
- Ability to work as part of a team environment.
- Flexibility to take multi role tasks when needed.
 
Conditions:
- Full-time employee position to start on 12 March 2026.
- Working hours: 7 hours (in principle kl.09.00 – kl.16.00, incl. 30 min. lunch break) per day, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
- Overtime work will be required a couple of times in a month on average; overtime allowance to be calculated at an hourly rate stipulated by the Embassy.
- Salary will depend upon the education and experience of the successful candidate but is expected to be approximately NOK 37,000 to 38,000 per month.

Deadline of the application:
- Application with required document must be received by the Embassy no later than 5 February 2026.
 
Interview and examination:
The Embassy conducts primary screening of applicants with submitted documents. A performance test will be also conducted for about an hour during the interview.
*Only successful candidates will be contacted by Friday 13 February 2026 and proceed to interview.
