Required visa application documents

Norwegian passport holder

  1. Valid passport
  2. One completed and signed Visa Application Form
  3. One passport-sized photograph (taken within the last 6 months)
  4. The certificate for completion of registration (受付済証) issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (the inviting company / organization located in Japan should apply for the certificate.)
  5. Checklist for quarantine regulation

Note 1: In some cases, additional supporting documents may be required.
Note 2: Visa will be for single entry use.

 

Non-Norwegian passport holder

  1. Valid passport
  2. Valid Norwegian Residence Permit 
  3. One completed and signed Visa Application Form(two for Nationals of Russia, CIS counties or Georgia)
  4. One passport-sized photograph (taken within the last 6 months, two for Nationals of Russia, CIS counties or Georgia)
  5. Original letter from Norwegian company signed by a company executive stating:
    a. The nature of the business in Japan
    b. The name and address of the business contact in Japan
    c. An itinerary for the proposed trip
    d. That the company will guarantee all expenses for the trip, including travel to and from Japan
    e. That the company guarantees the applicant will abide by Japanese law and Japanese immigration regulations
  6. Letter of Reason for Invitation (Japanese or English) from the company/organization to be visited in Japan
  7. The certificate for completion of registration (受付済証) issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (the inviting company / organization located in Japan should apply for the certificate.)

How to apply for a visa

  • For visa application, applicants must visit consular section in person, or they may send an agent with a letter of attorney signed by themselves. An appointment prior to applying is not required.
  • Application sent by postal mail will not be accepted in general. However, application sent by registered mail may be acceptable only when applicants live far from Oslo. Please note that the Embassy does not take any responsibility regarding any postal trouble such as loss of documents or delay of delivery. 
  • The Embassy does not return passport by postal mail, and thus the passport should be picked up by either applicant or agent with a letter of attorney at the Embassy after the visa application process has been completed.
