Bomb Explosion in the Centre of Oslo and Shooting at a Camp Site


1. I am greatly shocked by and feel strong indignation over the fact that many people were killed or injured as a result of the bomb explosion incident near the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital Oslo and the shooting incident outside Oslo, in Norway, on July 22 (local time). Japan expresses grief and extends its condolences to the victims.

2. Such a violent act as this can in no way be accepted, and Japan firmly condemns it.

3. Japan condemns all terrorism, irrespective of form or aim, and emphasises again its determination to continue, in cooperation with the international society, to stand up against terrorism.

On July 22 (local time), a bombing incident in the centre of the capital Oslo and a shooting incident at Utøya camp site northwest of Oslo, in Norway, took place successively, and many people have been killed or injured.
